Plesk server migration
Your Plesk server, moved and looked after
I bring the websites, databases and mailboxes from your Plesk server across for free. After that I take care of updates, backups and security, for a fixed monthly price.
Already know what you need? Web hosting · Managed server
What do you pay today, and what would you pay with me?
Enter what your server costs you per month today, licence included. I'll show you the package that fits and what it costs.
My recommendation
Web hosting Business · €24.95 per month
Paid yearly, €249.50 per year (two months free).
All amounts excl. VAT.
Who this isn't for
If you tinker with your server every day and want to keep doing so, or if you need Windows servers, this isn't for you. It's for people who no longer want to look after a server themselves.
What changes after the move
Nothing left for you to maintain
Updates, security, backups and monitoring are on me. You don't have to log in to keep anything current.
A person, not tickets
New mailbox, a forward, a forgotten password: one WhatsApp and it's done. You always talk to the same person.
A fixed price
I don't raise prices on running contracts. Pay monthly or yearly and cancel any month.
Move a Plesk server in 7 steps
This is how it goes if you do it yourself. The order matters more than the technique: build everything at the new home, check it, and switch the domains last.
- 1
Take stock
Write down what's on your Plesk server: domains, websites, databases, mailboxes, forwards, cron jobs and custom DNS records. Whatever is missing here will be missing after the move.
- 2
Take a complete backup
Download all files over SFTP and export every database as a dump. Keep the backup until the move is finished. It's your way back.
- 3
Prepare the destination
Create the databases at the new home and check that the PHP version suits your sites, otherwise they won't start after the move.
- 4
Transfer files and databases
Upload the files, import the dumps and update the configuration files with the new database credentials.
- 5
Bring the mailboxes
Copy every mailbox over IMAP with all folders and old messages. Create the same addresses and forwards at the destination first.
- 6
Test before anyone notices
Open the sites through a test address or your hosts file and check forms, logins and outgoing mail.
- 7
Switch the domains, then cancel
Lower the TTL a few days ahead, then change the DNS records. Only when everything runs at the new home do you cancel the licence and the old server.
It's doable if you know SFTP, database dumps and DNS. With several domains and mailboxes it's a full working day.
Move it yourself or have it moved
| Aspect | Do it yourself | I take over |
|---|---|---|
| Effort | one to several days, depending on domains and mailboxes | none, I do everything |
| Mailboxes | you copy each one over IMAP | come across with all old messages |
| Risk | site or email can go down | parallel move, switch-over comes last |
| Afterwards | updates and backups stay with you | updates, backups and security are on me |
The migration is free, whether you pay monthly or yearly.
Data protection as standard, no surcharge
The servers are in Germany and the data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is included.
Common questions about the move
How do I manage my mailboxes after the move?
New mailbox, new password, a forward: send me a quick WhatsApp and I'll set it up.
Is there downtime during the move?
No. I move everything in parallel and only switch the domains once everything is checked at the destination.
What happens to my Plesk licence and the old server?
You cancel them wherever you booked them, as soon as everything runs with me. I'll tell you when.
Will the price go up later?
I don't raise prices on running contracts. The price you start with stays.
Are backups and SSL included?
Yes, daily backups and SSL certificates come with every package.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, any month. The migration stays free.
